Pine Mountain Forest Hike

Please join us on this beautiful hike to our highest mountain range at 6500 feet.  We will meet at Nordhoff H.S parking lot at 8am.  There is some drive time approx.37miles to the trail head.  Plan on carpooling.  The majestic ancient pine trees soar into a brilliant blue sky and will leave you speechless.  The sounds and smells are amazing.  The views are 360 degree, encompassing the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands on one side, and the Oso Bad Lands on the other.  Thetrail winds through the beautiful pines along stunning ridge top views.  The meadows are in bloom with various wild flowers, truly a sight to behold.  We might even find some left over snow.  The climate is cooler here than in Ojai so dress in layers.  Comfortable hiking shoes, hat and sunscreen are also recommended.  Please bring a sack lunch and plenty of water.  This is not a very strenuous hike so everyone, (children and Dogs) are welcome.  Distance is approx 6 miles total.  Cost is $20 for single and $30 for couple.  For more information contact Robert at 805-798-2810

Annual Bill Wechter Bear Creek Hike

bear-creek4Join us on  our annual Bear Creek and Beyond Hike Sunday, April 26th.  This scenic trail follows the Sespe River and the landscape is covered with beautiful wild flowers and interesting rock formations. The hike is approximately 8 miles round trip.  This is not a very strenuous hike but there are a few river crossings along the way.  We will hike to a fresh water spring after stoping for lunch  at Bear Creek.  There are lots of great places to swim on this hike.  Dress in layers and comfortable hiking shoes.  Hat and suncreen are recomended.  Bring plenty of water to drink and a sack lunch.  We will meet at Nordhoff H.S parking lot at 8:00am.  The cost is $20 for single and $30 a couple.  For more info contact Robert (805) 798-2810 or robert@goojai.com

Matilija Falls for Easter

img_0733Please join us on this Beautiful Easter Hike into the Matilija Caynon.  We will go to many Swimming Holes and to several Water falls.  This is  considered one of the “Best Hikes Ever“, a must do.  This scenic trail follows the beautiful Matilija Creek.  The wild flowers are especially beautiful this time of year and the temprature will  be perfect.  This is categorized as one of our NO WIMP HIKES.  This means, no kids or dogs,(really tough) unless they are hardy trail kids/ dogs. The trail is 5 miles in and round trip 10 miles.

We will meet at Nordhoff H.S parking lot 8:30am Saturday, April 11th .  Please dress in layers and wear comfortable hiking shoes.  Bring lots of water, sack lunch, snacks, camara, hat/sunscreen.

The cost is $20 for single/$30 for couples.

Howard Creek Trail

This is one of our favorite hikes to the Nordhoff  Ridge.  Not just because it is one of the shortest routes, only 3 miles to the top,along a beautiful trail filled with ferns . The views are spectacular.  On one side is the Sespe Valley and the other,the Channel Islands.  The trail is shady and cool this time of year.  We will have lunch on top of the ridge just  above the old Nordhoff  Lookout Tower.  We will meet at Nordhoff High School at 9am.  Price for this hike is $20 for singles and $30 for couples.  Please dress in layers and wear comfortable hiking shoes.  Bring a sack lunch and plenty of water.  This is a Dog Friendly Hike!  Any questions  call Robert at (805)798-2810 or email robert@goojai.com

Two Springs Hike

Meet @ Nordhoff High School @ 9am.  We Will car pool to Pine Mountain Road.  This road is unmaintained and rough.  Once we get to the top we will be at 7000 feet.  The first  trail we will be hiking on is 1 mile down with beautiful and Breath taking views that will take us to Raspberry Springs.  Once we are here you will be able to revel in the beauty of the surroundings.  After an inspiring visit here  we will head back up the trail and over to our next adventure.  Next we will  head down the south side of Pine mountain to the Chorro Grande Springs.  This trail has awesome views of the Channel Islands.  This is where we will have lunch.

Both hikes combined are a total of approximately 4 miles.  Not a great distance but filled with extreme beauty.  The weather up on the mountain is unpredictible.  Please dress in layers.  A warm jacket is strongly advised.  Bring a lunch, water, and please wear comfortable hiking shoes.  This is not an endurance hike so all family members are welcome.

UPPER NORTH FORK MATILIJA CYN

Saturday, October 4th. Meet at Nordhoff High’s parking lot @ 8 am. Carpool to trail head. We will follow the river mostly in the shade with lots of chances to cool off.  There is lots of water flowing over the falls and they are spectacular. This is a very difficult hike. No  wimps/no dogs  as the day is long and the terrain is rough.  Things you will need to bring; Comfortable hiking shoes, Hat/sunscreen, lots of water, food, (lunch and snacks), and dress in layers.  The hike is approx. 5 miles each way so allow for a total time of about 6 hrs. of hiking.  The cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple.  Please reserve your spot on line at robert@goojai.com or call 805-798-2810
